Photos and videos? in your SmugMug galleries can be embedded in Web pages outside of SmugMug. For example, you can show off your lunch in a forum post like this:

By default, External Links is set to yes for each of your galleries.

If you've changed it to no in Customize Gallery for the gallery where the photo you wish to embed lives, the photo will NOT be visible outside SmugMug (in the forum or blog).

Next, choose a size.

  3. Click the URL or embed code next to the size you'd like to use and it will be automatically copied for you.

Finally, paste your URL into the forum or blog

For a video, you can just paste that embed code right in the body of your forum or blog post. If it doesn't seem to work after saving your post, check the forum instructions about embedding. It could be that forum doesn't allow embedding html-tags.

For a photo, there is typically an IMG or graphical button that appears when you compose a forum post. Clicking that button displays a pop-up window for your photo's URL.

Paste your photo URL into the space provided. In some forums, such as dpreview, no pop-up box is provided and you simply paste your photo's URL into the body of your message along with your spectacular prose.

(Pasting is done by holding down the Ctrl key, then hitting the v key, or Command-v on the Mac).

Wait! I have my own Web page. What now?

For a video, you can just paste the embed code anywhere that accepts HTML.

If you have to use HTML to embed a photo, here's how it's done: copy the entire line, in orange and black, below.

<img src="http://cmac.smugmug.com/photos/435842_kTRmN-M.jpg" width="561" height="115">

Paste it into your Web page. Now just replace the parts in black with your photo's URL and pixel dimensions.

But I want to post custom image sizes

No problem.
